Jan 05, 2016 · Now, -reverse fine. -shifts well from 1-2 and 2-3, though a little harder than previous test drive before fluid change, running at correct fluid level. -Still no overdrive. not even at start, cold. -I believe the converter lock up is working as I see a 100 rpm drop when cruising at constant throttle in 3 after a little while. Fola1968. 4th is inhibited until engine temps reach 120 iirc, and trans temp is above 80. Lockup is also temp inhibited to both a few degrees warmer. I would say that there is internal issues with the clutch packs/bands in the transmissions. 4l60E'S are notorious for not wanting to last much past 150k. how many miles does your truck have? As for overdrive, while driving around 65 mph for a while, it seems go into overdrive but the rpm's seem high, around 2300. Applied the brakes and the rpm's climb. You should see good battery voltage. Now watch the meter and start the truck. If the voltage drops below 12 volts you can bet the ignition switch is bad.
